Bloggers Christmas Beauty Brawl: Burt's Bees Ultra-Conditioning Lip Balm Review

Ten days, ten product reviews: click through for the 2015 #bxbeautybrawl and see A Greater Gorgeous's reviews!

Welcome to the third review of the Bloggers Christmas Beauty Brawl! For the past two days and the next eight days, three other bloggers and I will be reviewing ten products each, from the same categories, by the same standards. We'll honestly review and score all of our purchases, and at the end of the ten days whichever blogger purchased the best products (has the highest score) will win a prize. Fun for both of us: reviews for you, prezzies for me (I hope!).

Today we're reviewing our choices for a lip balm, and my product choice is Burt's Bees Ultra-Conditioning Lip Balm. We're probably all pretty familiar with Burt's Bees, and their lip products are probably some of their most-loved products, so I wanted to see how they did with something a little stronger (since I've always had extremely dry lips).

The brand appeal for Burt's Bees is spot-on, and that's why they're such a popular brand, right? They were one of the first brands to be successful at marketing natural products to the masses. It's never been a brand I've been particularly drawn to, so I was excited to try something from them.

I was probably more disappointed in this product than any of the others I tried for the Beauty Brawl. Such a bummer, right?

I could go through the list of criteria, and we all know that it smells good blah blah blah, but the truth is that this lip balm is thin and soaks in way too quickly. It's not really that moisturizing at all! I may be a stickler about lip balms because of my chronically dry lips, and none of this to say that it is all around a terrible lip balm, but I really don't think this can be marketed as "ultra-conditioning." I need more of it 5 minutes after I've applied it.

That being said, it is still probably a good choice for just regular ol' lips, nothing "chronically dry" about 'em. And it's a lip balm you can find practically everywhere since Burt's Bees is so mainstream.

But let me just say that when I made & sold lip balm (RIP The Lipper, though I think I'll bring you back someday), it was aces and it cost less than than Burt's Bees $3.99 lip balm.

Recommend? Not really. But try it out if you're a usual fan of BB.
