Bloggers Christmas Beauty Brawl: Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor Review

Welcome to the tenth and final review of the Bloggers Christmas Beauty Brawl! For the past ten days, three other bloggers and I have reviewed ten products each, from the same categories, by the same standards. We've honestly reviewed and scored all of our purchases, and at the end of these ten days whichever blogger has chosen the best products (has the highest score) will win a prize. Fun for both of us: reviews for you, prezzies for me (I hope!).

Our last review for the #bxbeautybrawl is lip color, and I've chosen the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor

It's the final day of the #bxbeauty brawl and we're reviewing lip color! Click through for my review of Revlon's Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor!

These capsule-like lip pods stood out to me the moment that I walked in the store, and this was the first product choice I made for the #bxbeautybrawl. I don't use many Revlon products, so I was glad it was from an unfamiliar brand. Plus... who could resist that pink?

I love the way the tube makes the color look matte inside (it's slightly frosted). The wand is one that has product on both sides, which is nice because you don't have to keep dipping back into the tube.

The first time I applied the product (I used the wand, I don't usually use a brush), I'd had some lip balm on, and I've noticed that lip balm can keep a matte product from setting the way it's supposed to. So I got a little more of a gloss the first time, which is nice because matte products can tend to feel pretty dry.

The second time, I got more of a matte effect, but I wouldn't say it's completely matte. It's still got a little bit of a sheen. No complaint here; like I said, matte products are usually pretty dry.

I wouldn't compare this to a "liquid lipstick," because it's not as thick and not as dry; it still goes on like a gloss, and it doesn't last like a liquid lipstick does, but it has a bit of a stain to it. It may be different for more neutral colors, but my lips still had a bright pink tint to them at the end of the day.

One thing that surprised me was the fruity fragrance; I actually kind of loved it, and it went along with the bright color. I wonder if the other colors smell so good!

I want to tell you it's a relatively good value for the money, and I have my score written down, but I honestly can't find it to purchase online right now.. I think it's that new. I have a feeling it's around $8.99, but that's just a guess!

I would definitely recommend this product as a little toe-dip into the world of matte lip color, if you're interested in it. If you're the kind of person who is obsessed with matte color, or only wears matte lip color, this is not the most matte lip product I've tried. But it's a good product in itself, and it's certainly a good tester!
