The One Brush to Rule Them All

My holy grail makeup brush!

The beginning of this blog in March coincided with a major bump in makeup-brush-usage in my routine. Pre-AGG, I typically applied my foundation & concealer with my fingertips. I only used one brush for eyeshadow and I had a blush brush; I didn't contour, and I'm not sure I even used powder to set. Maybe I did (I can't even remember!). That's three brushes, if I used powder. Three!

Then came Jaclyn Hill and Sigma brushes; I was obsessed. Still am, to be truthful. My first love was the F80 flat kabuki brush, but I've since moved on as it frustrates me that I can never really get it clean. I do, however, swear by the E25, E35, and E45 eye brushes for my eyeshadow.

Next up came my sheer infatuation with Pixiwoo (still my biggest love; feast your eyes on over 500 videos), a British sister-duo of makeup artists with a line of brushes called Real Techniques. I truly do believe that I could be happy with only Sigma and Real Techniques brushes for the rest of my life.

While I know there are loads of brushes I can & will try over the course of my lifetime, I feel like there will always be, at any given point in my life, one brush that I cannot live without. The one brush to rule them all. A brush of which I should probably own six. Ideally a multi-tasking brush, though not necessarily if it does a bang-up job of what it's supposed to do.

Take this down: the Buffing Brush by Real Techniques.

I love this brush. The only thing I haven't used it for is my eyeshadow, for obvious reasons. It's the perfect brush for a flawless foundation finish, and it's magic for powder, blush & bronzer application. It's soft, but not terribly soft. What's also nice about it is that it's not perfectly round -- it's a tiny bit rectangular, which helps out with the blush & bronzer.

Downside: you can't buy it on its own. It only comes in the Core Collection set and the Sam's Pick's set. I would recommend Sam's Picks because the other brushes in that collection are killer, too!

What about you guys - do you have a brush you can't live without? Let me know in the comments below!

I did not receive any compensation whatsoever for this post. All opinions are completely my own because I am obsessed with this makeup brush. That is all.
