I don't know what it's like in your neck of the woods, but in Virginia, it doesn't really start getting cold cold until January. Now that the holidays are over, we're heading into the super-cold, super-dry weather that takes a toll no matter what your skin type!
Most people -- especially those of us with dry skin -- suffer from itchy skin, dry patches, flakes, and even staticky hair. More than anything, it's uncomfortable! Now more than ever it's time to take care of dry skin with lots of water and extra-hydrating products. Here are a few that I'm either loving or lusting after for winter hydration:
I've got year-round dry lips, so imagine the trouble I have during the winter! A lip treatment with extra-hydrating ingredients like fresh's lip serum will keep your lips soft and your lipstick smooth.
I've been hearing about this from my favorite makeup artists Pixiwoo for a while now, and I've got some in the mail to me as we speak. It's a rich moisturizing lotion that triples as a primer & makeup remover as well! I can't wait to smooth this stuff on.
Zim's Crack Creme - $6
All my life I've had very dry legs. I'm not the best about regularly applying lotion, and I know that if I were better about that I wouldn't suffer as much, but I get incredibly cracked, itchy, scaly shins. As it turns out, Cara over at Maskcara has the same problem, and has tried every possible product under the sun (thanks for doing the legwork, Cara!). Once she found this Crack Creme, she stopped looking because it healed her dryness immediately. Here's her post on the product.
I've always sworn by Bobbi Brown's Hydrating Face Cream -- this is a stepped-up, winterized version which is also available tinted or with SPF 25. A bit on the pricey side, but worth the skin benefits! Year-round you'd want to use this at night, but if you've got extra dry skin it'll give you a boost in the daytime, too.
The link above will take you to the Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment, but I've been loving the shampoo and conditioner, too. I received a travel size of the styling treatment from Birchbox and have been obsessedwith it! So naturally I picked up travel sizes of the shampoo & conditioner, too. My hair feels absolutely amazing - so soft and moisturized! And the great thing is that Sephora offers several size options: two travel-sized (1 oz. or 2 oz. each) sets of the three products for $10 or $29 respectively, plus two different full-sized bottles of the styling treatment. Go buy this now!
Pssst.... one more thing. Combat static hair by spritzing on a light leave-in conditioner like UNITE 7Seconds. The more moisture you put in your hair the less likely you'll be to have static to begin with, but a quick spritz of the conditioner when you start to get those crazy flyaways will fix the problem!
